Job summary

Entergy is seeking a Distribution Operator at the Baton Rouge location to ensure safe and reliable operation of the electric distribution system. The role involves directing switching personnel, system configuration, monitoring, and coordinating outage responses across field crews and control centers.

The position requires knowledge of safety manuals, switching procedures, and the ability to manage outages with SCADA and OMS, including after-hours support and rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED with relevant technical experience.
• A 2-year degree in a technical area (electrical tech) with experience is desired.
• A 4-year engineering/technical degree is acceptable for higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate understanding of Entergy's safety and switching procedures and policies.
• Direct switching personnel and monitor outage priorities to optimize resource use.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose distribution system issues and support restoration efforts.
• Oversee switching, tagging, and clearance processes ensuring safety and coordination with SCADA/control devices.
• Provide timely outage updates to customers and support personnel during events.
• Coordinate large switching projects involving substation and distribution line resources.
• Maintain relationships with operations centers and service staff to improve outage response.
