Lumicity is seeking a Senior Power Distribution Engineer to support a growing Midwest utility book. This long-term contract-to-hire role offers autonomy, potential leadership of a small team, and exposure to both overhead and underground distribution projects.

Responsibilities include delivering full project packages, coordinating permitting, and performing field data collection. A strong CAD background and experience with ComEd/Exelon systems are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 4–8+ years of power distribution engineering experience (overhead primary preferred).
• Experience with ComEd/Exelon system is a differentiator (Asset Suite 8, TED, CEGIS a plus).
• CAD proficiency with AutoCAD as primary design tool.
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work.
• Strong communication and leadership presence.

• Produce full project deliverables: construction plan drawings, work location notes, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, and permitting / ROW documentation.
• Perform hardware and conductor selection, finite element analysis, and technical support during construction phases.
• Coordinate DOT, municipality permitting, One-Calls, and right-of-way requests across project sites.
• Conduct and coordinate internal and external design reviews prior to final client submission.
• Perform field work when required — site visits for data collection, client interface, and design validation via company vehicle.
• Support team growth over time — this role has a clear path to leading a small team within the first year.

A well-established and rapidly expanding power engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Power Distribution Engineer to support a growing book of utility clients across the Midwest and beyond. This is a long-term contract-to-hire engagement with a firm looking to convert — this is a pipeline into a permanent seat on a team that's actively scaling.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer overhead and underground power distribution systems — pole replacements, line routing, rebuilds, and tie-line programs across multiple utility clients
• Produce full project deliverables: construction plan drawings, work location notes, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, and permitting / ROW documentation

Required skills

• 4-8+ years of power distribution engineering experience — overhead-primary; underground-only backgrounds will not be considered
• Background working within the ComEd / Exelon system is a strong differentiator — Asset Suite 8, TED, CEGIS experience a significant plus
• CAD proficiency required — AutoCAD is the primary tool for distribution design work on this team
• Self-starter mentality — this role operates with autonomy and eventual team leadership; ability to manage multiple projects independently is essential
• Strong communication and leadership presence — must be well-spoken and confident walking through design methodology with clients and field crews
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform field work in varying outdoor conditions; company vehicle provided
