What You Will Do
  • Design, analyze (including thermal considerations), simulate, and test power conversion circuitry potentially utilizing any standard non-isolated power conversion topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost) including modules and discrete designs.
  • Guide Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) personnel through PWB layout of power circuitry and technical drawing creation.
  • Perform design work within the bounds of a given schedule.
  • Present reviews of technical data to program leadership and technical staff.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in design, analysis, simulation, and/or test experience with linear converters.
  • Experience with any of the following non-isolated converter topologies: buck, boost, buck-boost.
  • Experience with design, analysis, and test with analog electronic design and analysis, including FET, BJT, and/or Op-amp circuits.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Lab experience specific to power electronics and/or controls electronics.
  • Demonstrated use of software tools for electrical circuit simulation and/or printed circuit board layout.
  • Demonstrated ability to document designs and circuit performance verification.
  • Understanding of fundamental power conversion concepts, components, and techniques.
  • Demonstrated understanding of linear controls and motor drive techniques.
  • Basic understanding of commonly used power converter and/or motor drive control schemes.
  • Design, analysis, and/or test experience with isolated converter topologies: flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, and/or push-pull; design scope includes stability.
  • Experience with circuit card assembly-level power architecture trades, and/or with system-level power architecture trades, including power converter specification development.
  • Professional experience guiding ECAD personnel through PWB layout and technical drawing creation.
  • Familiarity with circuit simulator SIMPLIS, Saber and/or Mathcad.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner, and/or Hyperlynx.
  • Experience serving as a liaison between program and functional management.
  • Experience with digital power control.
  • Experience with military specifications.
  • Experience with transformer and inductor design considerations.
  • Design experience addressing EMI concerns.
  • Design experience with voltages > 400V and/or power > 10kW.
  • Experience with program management tools such as Earned Value.
  • Experience with proposal development.
  • Ability to design to meet concerns of adjacent disciplines (thermal, structural, mechanical, reliability, quality).
  • Self-starter, functioning in dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and time management skills.
