Job summary

Kimley-Horn seeks a motivated Practice Builder to expand the Power Delivery practice in Phoenix, AZ. You will win and deliver exceptional work, manage profitable projects, and mentor the next generation of engineers.

You will lead design and analysis for renewable, energy storage, and substation projects, collaborate across offices, and drive growth through thoughtful planning and client relationships. Expect strong leadership, autonomy, and ownership potential.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant experience managing Electrical projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale substation projects.
  • Review and development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams.
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices.
  • Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals, supporting growth of electrical engineering service areas locally and nationally.
  • Provide vision, business planning and strategy, establish goals, and build client relationships as a Practice Builder.
  • Our PMs/Practice Builders manage projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, mentor teams, and lead with integrity.
  • Autonomy to lead, direct, and grow the business with focus on quality and client outcomes.

Overview

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Practice Builder to expand our Power Delivery practice in Phoenix, Arizona. As a Practice Builder at Kimley-Horn you will serve clients by winning and delivering exceptional work, managing projects profitably, and mentoring the next generation.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and analysis of complex electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale substation projects
  • Responsible for the review and development of design documents and reports, including electrical layouts, equipment schematics and block diagrams, electrical system calculations, and one-line diagrams
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams, with interaction across Kimley-Horn offices
  • Prepare project specifications, electrical construction cost estimates, and proposals, supporting the growth of electrical engineering service areas in the localmarket and across the country
  • Leadership responsibilities include:
    • Operating with integrity and sound business principals
    • Providing vision, business planning and strategy
    • Establishing goals
    • Building and maintaining positive client relationships
    • Having open communication with your partners and team
    • Growing and leading a Power Delivery practice
  • Our Project Managers/Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor
  • The successful candidate will be given a great deal of autonomy to lead, direct, and grow their business
