Job summary

Ivy H. Smith Company, LLC is seeking an Operator Power Construction Equipment to operate heavy machinery at construction sites, ensuring safety and precision in daily tasks.

You will perform general construction duties, assist with site restoration, travel for storm responses, follow regulations, and collaborate with foremen and teams to deliver quality work.

Strong communication and reliability are valued as you support project timelines and respond to varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with at least two years of driving experience.
  • Six months of supervised equipment operation experience.
  • Willingness to overtime, weekends, extended hours.
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate diesel or gasoline-powered equipment at job sites and during transit.
  • Perform general construction tasks, including lifting materials up to 50 pounds and using hand tools
  • Follow directions to deliver quality work and maintain safe work conditions in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations
  • Restore excavated areas by backfilling trenches, leveling surfaces, and replacing removed materials as directed by the foreman or supervisor
  • Travel for storm response with minimal notice
  • Determine voltages and associated hazards
  • Review and adhere to minimum approach distances
  • Demonstrate positive work relationships with internal and external teams
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Do

What You’ll Need
  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • High school diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
  • Valid state driver’s license with a minimum of two years of driving experience and an acceptable driving record
  • Six months of supervised equipment operation experience
  • Ability to work effectively in both solo and team environments
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and extended hours as needed
  • Ability to work safely in all weather conditions, including inclement weatherStrong self-starter with effective communication skills
