Florida State University seeks a Power BI/SQL Report Writer to support the Division of University Advancement. This role involves fulfilling data requests, creating reports, and providing user support using SQL and Power BI. Ideal candidates will have experience in report writing and data analysis and will contribute to a vibrant academic community.

This position is a member of the Information Services Report team within the Division of University Advancement. The Division of University Advancement supports Florida State University’s mission of teaching, scholarship and public service through our mission of enhancing the university’s leadership, reputation and private financial support in academics, research, service and athletics.
ResponsibilitiesThe report team is responsible for collaborating with advancement personnel, fulfilling data and report requests, and providing end-user support for enterprise reporting software. They develop ad-hoc queries and reports, create data models and visualizations, and participate in testing and validation efforts. Additionally, they review technical solution designs, use a ticket system to track issues, and participate in committees on data migration.
The PowerBI/SQL Report Writer is responsible for the fulfillment of data and report requests, providing end user support, investigating and resolving transactional and data-related issues of enterprise constituent relationship management (CRM) software, associated databases and data warehouses and other associated products.
Report Writing:
Utilizing Microsoft T-SQL, SSRS and PowerBI, fulfills data requests for mailing lists, donor rolls, demographic and giving analyses. Produces or supports the production of standard, custom and audit reports. Provides data extraction, manipulation and reporting assistance to other departments as needed.
Application Support:
Provide overall program support for Division of University Advancement applications and other associated products utilized by the University Advancement and other
FSU Direct Support Organizations (DSO's). Conducts research and analysis to resolve technical application issues. Provide appropriate service, support, training, and advice to end users regarding the capabilities and functions of the constituent management software products, along with technical and application issues.
Data Infrastructure:
Participates in thorough testing and validation efforts for deliverables such as reports, data lists, applications, and system upgrades, ensuring timely and accurate results in a team environment. Designs, creates and maintains application and business process related documentation. Gather and document business requirements, and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders. Protects confidential information.
Assist Report Team Manager & Other:
Adheres to Information Services change management policies and procedures and other duties as required.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years' experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred QualificationsExperience and work history with Microsofts SQL Server Reporting Services report building and management. Experience with Microsoft PowerBI reporting. Experience using T-SQL and SSMS to query and manage data. General Familiarity with relational database structure and with the process of managing and maintaining a data warehouse.
