Job description

Enterprise Power BI | Microsoft Fabric | Capacity Management | Governance | Azure

Hire Elevation Resources is seeking an experienced Power BI / Microsoft Fabric Administrator to take ownership of the operational health, security, governance, and performance of its enterprise Power BI and Microsoft Fabric environment.

This is a true platform administration role — not a Power BI report or dashboard development position.

We are looking for someone who understands what happens behind the scenes of a large Power BI/Fabric environment: capacities, workspaces, gateways, refreshes, security, governance, deployment controls, monitoring, and performance.

Just as importantly, this person needs to take ownership of the environment. The right administrator isn't waiting for someone to tell them there's a problem — they're monitoring the platform, identifying unusual activity or risks, investigating what caused them, and proactively bringing recommendations to the team.

What You'll Own
  • Administer and monitor an enterprise Microsoft Power BI and Fabric environment
  • Manage Fabric capacities, workspaces, domains, tenant settings, and security
  • Monitor Capacity Unit (CU) consumption, utilization trends, throttling, and performance
  • Investigate unusual capacity spikes and identify the reports, processes, or workloads responsible
  • Monitor refreshes, processing activity, gateways, and overall platform health
  • Administer and maintain Power BI gateways, including coordinating upgrades and maintenance during appropriate processing windows
  • Manage OneLake access, security groups, and role-based permissions
  • Support RBAC, RLS, OLS, and enterprise security standards
  • Maintain strong governance across the Power BI/Fabric environment
  • Identify stale, unused, or unnecessary content and coordinate environment cleanup
  • Monitor issues using tools such as Fabric Monitoring Hub and Azure Monitor
  • Identify platform risks and proactively communicate recommendations to technical and business stakeholders
  • Partner with BI analysts, data teams, release teams, cloud engineering, and security teams to resolve issues
  • Provide backup support for controlled dashboard/report releases when needed
  • Support CI/CD and administrative automation using technologies such as Azure DevOps, Git, PowerShell, and Microsoft Admin APIs
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise data, analytics, cloud, or BI platforms
  • Strong hands‑on experience administering Microsoft Power BI in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and a strong understanding of Fabric administration
  • Experience managing a meaningful number of Power BI/Fabric workspaces, users, capacities, and governed deployments
  • Strong understanding of Power BI/Fabric capacity management and performance monitoring
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Power BI gateways and data refreshes
  • Understanding of Power BI/Fabric security, including RBAC, RLS and OLS
  • Experience working within controlled Dev/Test/Prod release environments
  • Working knowledge of Azure administration, security, monitoring, and cost management
  • Understanding of enterprise data governance and security practices
  • PowerShell and/or administrative automation experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex platform issues and determine root cause
  • Experience supporting large, governed enterprise environments
The Person Who Will Thrive Here

This position requires someone who is highly self‑directed, accountable, curious, and proactive.

You should be the type of administrator who naturally asks:

  • Why did capacity usage spike yesterday?
  • Which workload caused it?
  • Why did this refresh fail?
  • Is this workspace still being used?
  • Are permissions configured appropriately?
  • Is something being deployed that could create a security or performance risk?
  • What can we clean up or optimize before it becomes a problem?

This isn't a role where you'll receive a queue of tasks and simply work through them. You'll be trusted to own the health of the environment, recognize potential issues, and bring those issues and recommendations to the appropriate teams.

Preferred Experience
  • Microsoft Fabric administration in a large production environment
  • Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity administration
  • OneLake
  • Azure DevOps and Git
  • PowerShell and Power BI/Fabric Admin APIs
  • Infrastructure‑as‑Code technologies such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM
  • Microsoft Purview or related data governance technologies
  • Healthcare or other highly regulated enterprise environments
  • HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks
This is not primarily a Power BI development role.

While an understanding of Power BI development is valuable, we are specifically looking for someone whose experience includes administering and governing the Power BI/Fabric platform itself.

If your background has included ownership of capacities, workspaces, gateways, tenant administration, security, refresh monitoring, performance, governance, and enterprise deployment controls, we'd like to hear from you.
