Job description

PPG Industries, Inc. is seeking a Powder Coating Product Development Chemist in Strongsville, OH. The role involves developing new powder coatings, designing color and chemical formulas, preparing and testing coatings against specifications. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Weighing solid formulas and melt-mixing through extrusion.
  2. Testing coatings to customer specifications and preparing reports.
  3. Spraying metal parts manually via electrostatic spray for evaluation.
  4. Performing cross-contamination checks.
  5. Evaluating new raw materials as alternatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, including:
    • Experience with raw materials in powder coatings and formulations.
    • Operating laboratory equipment for manufacturing and applying powder coatings.
    • Performance testing and formulation to meet customer requirements.
    • Planning, conducting, and analyzing experimental work.
    • Formulating customer-requested color matches.
