Job summary

F3 Metalworx in Erie, PA is seeking a hands-on Powder Coating Technical Specialist to lead our powder coating operation. You’ll implement Lean/Six Sigma driven processes on the floor, optimize lines, diagnose coating defects, and mentor the team.

Reporting to the VP of Operations, you will ensure quality, throughput, and zero-defect performance across three powder lines, four ovens, and a batch booth, with direct impact on manufacturing excellence.

Qualifications

• 10+ years hands-on powder coating experience across substrates
• Experience with multiple powder chemistries; Teflon coating knowledge preferred
• Lean/Six Sigma knowledge, including process mapping
• Experience with automated application equipment (Nordson)
• Strong communicator with ability to train and mentor team

Responsibilities

• Be the technical authority on the powder coating floor, on the line
• Evaluate processes and implement improvements across three powder lines, four ovens, and a batch booth
• Apply Lean/Six Sigma to identify bottlenecks and waste
• Diagnose and resolve coating defects with deep technical knowledge
• Oversee the operation, maintenance of automated application equipment (Nordson)
• Support standard and specialty coatings including Teflon
• Partner with Quality to reduce escapes and drive zero-defect performance
• Coach and mentor the team, build buy-in for new processes
• Use data and KPIs to monitor line performance and report to leadership
