Job summary

Accelera in New York state is seeking an experienced Powder Coating Supervisor to mentor the finishing crew, manage coating lines, and uphold safety and quality standards in a fast-paced facility.

You will utilize SAP/MRP systems, review Lot-by-Lot paperwork, and coordinate with scheduling to meet production timelines while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience in production or finishing; minimum 2 years in industrial painting or powder coating.
• Experience with SAP or ERP/MRP platforms to handle inventory and production scheduling.
• Knowledge of electrostatic coating application and pretreatment processes.
• Experience with ISO 9001, Lean, or Six Sigma quality frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise the powder coating crew, line operators, and auxiliary personnel.

Job description

• Mentor, instruct, and supervise the powder coating crew, line operators, and auxiliary personnel.
• Direct daily tasks by utilizing SAP picklists, Lot-by-Lot documentation, and established production timelines.
• Facilitate morning briefings to outline objectives, reinforce safety protocols, and clarify quality standards.
• Help maintain the integrity of cabinet and containment parts by ensuring they are racked and handled correctly to avoid surface damage.

Quality Assurance & Process Management

• Oversee surface prep, coating application, and curing stages to guarantee all components meet strict quality benchmarks.
• Conduct routine inspections and work alongside the Quality department to address and rectify finish imperfections like fisheyes or poor adhesion.
• Execute necessary process improvements and ensure all Lot-by-Lot paperwork is kept up to date.
• Contribute to ISO 9001 standards by maintaining precise documentation and following all operational procedures.

Administrative & System Tasks

• Manage production tracking, work order completion, and powder stock levels using SAP/MRP software.
• Log daily production totals, equipment downtime, and material waste within SAP and on physical tracking displays.
• Partner with Scheduling and Inventory teams to manage urgent requests and keep work-in-progress data accurate.

Safety & Equipment Maintenance

• Manage the configuration, operation, and maintenance of spray equipment, booths, curing ovens, and pre-treatment machinery.
• Promote a culture of safety by enforcing OSHA and EHS guidelines, including proper PPE usage and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
• Perform regular safety audits and elevate equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team for prompt repair.

Professional Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a production or finishing setting, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in industrial painting or powder coating.
• Competence in using SAP or equivalent ERP/MRP platforms to handle inventory and production scheduling.
• Deep understanding of electrostatic application techniques and various pre-treatment processes.
• Experience working within structured quality frameworks like ISO 9001, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.

Educational Background

• High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
• An Associate’s Degree in Industrial Management or Manufacturing Technology is preferred.
• Certifications from the Powder Coating Institute or completed OSHA training are considered an advantage.
• Possession of a valid forklift license is beneficial.
