Job summary

Hennig is seeking an entry-level Powder Coat Painter I in Illinois to support powder coating operations. You will prepare and clean parts, hang and unhang materials, and organize parts while following fabrication plans.

You will use required tools and assist with painting under the direction of experienced team members. Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year in manufacturing; reading English is required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
• Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required; experience as a Paint Powder Coater preferred.
• Reading Ability: Must be able to read and understand English

The Powder Coat Painter I performs entry-level powder coat operations while developing the skills necessary to work safely and effectively within the department. Responsibilities include preparing and cleaning parts, hanging and unhanging materials, organizing and identifying parts, following fabrication plans, using required tools and equipment, and assisting with painting activities under the direction of experienced team members

Responsibilities include preparing and cleaning parts, hanging and unhanging materials, organizing and identifying parts, following fabrication plans, using required tools and equipment, and assisting with painting activities under the direction of experienced team members

Requirements

• Assist with powder coating and painting tasks under the direction of a P2-level painter or higher.


• Follow established quality requirements for assigned work-center tasks.


• Organize parts by model number, unit number, or job number.


• Locate parts on fabrication plans and verify that required work has been completed.


• Complete required fabrication plan sign-offs after verifying part completion.


• Operate a pressure washer and follow the established washing process to properly clean parts.


• Lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds when hanging parts for processing.


• Work with team members to safely handle and lift larger parts.


• Organize finished parts by the appropriate model number, unit number, or job number.


• Produce identification tags and use punches to properly identify parts.


• Safely operate crane equipment after completing required crane training.


• Safely clean equipment using approved solvents and established cleaning procedures.


• Properly use and store tools required for work-center operations.


• Maintain the work center in accordance with established 5S requirements.


• Work safely around forklift and crane operations and follow designated aisles, work zones, and storage areas.


• Operate power/hand tools, measuring devices, and instruments used for assembly.


• Adhere to established work schedules, break periods, and company policies regarding phone use, smoking, music, and general workplace conduct.


• Use required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, masks, safety shoes, and other work-center-specific PPE.


• Understand and follow quality standards and workmanship requirements for assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma/GED required


• Experience: One year of continuous experience in a manufacturing environment required; experience as a Paint Powder Coater preferred.

Skills

• Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions and established procedures.


• Basic ability to read fabrication plans and identify parts by model, unit, or job number.


• Ability to operate a pressure washer and follow established part-cleaning processes.


• Basic knowledge of powder coat quality requirements.


• Ability to safely use power tools/hand tools and properly store work-center tools.


• Ability to safely work around forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment.


• Ability to learn and safely operate crane equipment after required training.


• Understanding of PPE, shop safety, and 5S requirements.


• Ability to lift and handle parts weighing up to 40 pounds and work with team members to handle larger parts.


• Ability to work effectively with others and receive direction from more experienced powder coat painters.


• Provide flexible support across all production areas as needed.
