Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering LLC is seeking a Powder Coat Technician to paint raw steel platforms and equipment using conventional spraying systems. You will prep surfaces, operate overhead cranes or forklifts, and ensure high-quality finishes with rigorous safety practices.

Responsibilities include maintaining paint usage records, performing blasting operations, and using thickness gauges to apply coatings accurately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of wet painting and surface preparation experience.
• Proficiency with conventional paint spraying systems.
• Knowledge of epoxy primer and polyurethane paint mixing.
• Experience with blasting equipment and steel blast cleaning.
• Ability to use thickness gauges and identify/repair paint defects.
• Good understanding of hand and power tools.
• Pass Respiratory Protection, Respirator Fit, and Pulmonary Function Tests.

Responsibilities

• Paint raw steel platforms and products.
• Move items using overhead cranes or forklifts.
• Perform wet painting tasks safely and efficiently.
• Complete general labor and cleaning tasks as needed.
• Maintain equipment, document inspections, and manage paint usage records.
• Operate blasting equipment and perform commercial-grade cleaning on steel surfaces.
• Ensure proper paint application using thickness gauges.
• Identify and repair paint defects.
• Keep work area clean and adhere to safety protocols and PPE.
