Job summary

Van-Am Tool & Engineering in Missouri is seeking a skilled Powder Coat Technician to join our production team. You will paint raw steel platforms, products, and equipment using conventional spray systems, perform surface prep, and follow strict safety protocols to ensure high-quality results.

This role requires at least 2 years of wet painting experience, familiarity with epoxy/polyurethane primers, blasting operations, and use of gauges to verify film thickness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in wet painting and surface preparation.
• Proficiency with conventional paint spraying systems.
• Knowledge of two-part epoxy primer and polyurethane paint.
• Experience using blasting equipment and commercial-grade blast cleaning.
• Ability to use thickness gauges and identify/repair paint defects.
• Good understanding of hand and power tools.
• Able to pass Respiratory Protection Physicals, Respirator Fit Tests, and Pulmonary Function Tests.

Responsibilities

• Paint raw steel platforms and products using wet painting methods.
• Move items with overhead cranes or forklifts and perform general labor.
• Maintain equipment, document inspections, and manage paint usage records.
• Operate blasting equipment and perform commercial-grade cleaning on steel surfaces.
• Ensure proper paint application using thickness gauges and identify defects.
• Keep work area clean and adhere to safety procedures and PPE.
