Job summary

Wabtec Corporation is seeking a Prep Technician to prepare and coat manufactured parts using Graco spray systems. You will ensure coatings meet quality standards, inspect finished items, and work in a team-focused manufacturing environment.

The role requires at least 1 year in powder coating, knowledge of measuring tools, and the ability to read blueprints. Expect a day shift with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• 1+ year of powder coat experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to apply coating principles and identify defects such as fisheye or poor adhesion.
• Ability to set, use and read measuring instruments like viscosity testers and thickness gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
• Interpret specifications to determine coating color and thickness and mixing instructions.

Responsibilities

• Prep, mask, coat, and finish metal and/or other surfaces.
• Operate Graco system to spray industrial paint finishes.
• Inspect painted units for runs, fisheye, and coating uniformity.
• Inspect and replace components on paint guns to ensure optimum performance.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance; assist in 5S and cleaning procedures.
• Clean paint from booth and hoses; replace air filters weekly.
• Assist others in solving quality and production issues; perform other duties as assigned.
