Job summary

Hamilton by Gunnebo in Milford, Ohio, is seeking a Powder Coat Paint Specialist to prepare, coat, and finish metal components using powder coating systems. You will ensure durable finishes meet specifications, and you will maintain production efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of coating processes, and adherence to safety standards. Swing shift is a 3-day, 12-hour schedule with rotation; prior powder coating or industrial painting

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years of powder coating, industrial painting, or related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of powder coating processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read work instructions, engineering drawings, and product specifications.
  • Experience using mil thickness gauges or similar measuring devices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal parts for powder coating through cleaning, masking, blasting, and pretreatment.
  • Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, curing ovens, and related production equipment.
  • Apply powder coatings according to color, thickness, and quality specs.
  • Inspect coated parts for defects, coverage, adhesion, and finish quality.
  • Verify coating thickness using testing/measuring equipment.
  • Load/unload materials from paint lines and curing ovens.
  • Perform color changes and clean equipment between runs.
  • Monitor oven temps, conveyor speeds, and process parameters for quality.
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain production records, quality docs, and inventory logs.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on painting equipment and report repairs.
  • Follow EH&S and housekeeping requirements.
  • Assist with continuous improvement to enhance quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Record production on a computer as needed.
  • Follow company policies and safety procedures.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.

Job description

The Powder Coat Paint Specialist is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing metal components using powder coating systems to ensure high-quality, durable finishes that meet company and customer specifications. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of coating techniques, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to maintain production efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

Pay is based on experience with a range of $19 to $21 per hour

This is a swing shift: 3-day 12-hour shift that rotates every pay period. MTW, TFS

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare metal parts for powder coating through cleaning, masking, blasting, and pretreatment processes.
  • Operate powder coating equipment, spray guns, curing ovens, and associated production equipment.
  • Apply powder coatings according to color, thickness, and quality specifications.
  • Inspect coated parts for defects, coverage, adhesion, and overall finish quality.
  • Verify coating thickness using appropriate testing and measuring equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from paint lines and curing ovens.
  • Perform color changes and clean equipment between production runs.

  • 1 to 2 years of powder coating, industrial painting, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of powder coating processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read work instructions, engineering drawings, and product specifications.
  • Experience using measuring devices such as mil thickness gauges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Basic computer skills for production reporting and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated powder coating systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in a metal fabrication, safe storage, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years experience with powder coat line setup, troubleshooting and quality control
