Job summary

Weir Group in Portland, OR is seeking a Pouring Line Operator for our onsite dayshift. You’ll perform molten metal pouring, ladle handling, and crane-supported material movement in a three-person rotation. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration to meet production standards.

Candidates should have physical endurance, the ability to learn alloy specs, and experience with heat safety in a foundry or metal-pouring environment. Minimal travel and a strong safety culture are required.

Responsibilities

  • Pouring operations: daily pouring of hot molten metal from ladles into sand molds using a fixed manipulator arm.
  • Ladle handling: move large ladles via overhead crane and tipping to fill smaller ladles using a manual wheel.
  • Physical setup: assist with rapid, repetitive lifting, pushing/pulling mold carts, and data entry scanning mold tags.
  • Hot metal crane operation: operate crane after certification, ensuring safe heat removal and efficient crane use.
  • Team collaboration: work in a three-person pouring line rotation to maintain production continuity and quality.
  • Travel requirements: minimal to no travel; onsite at Portland facility.

You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.What you’ll doPouring Operations: Perform daily pouring of hot molten metal from small ladles into sand molds using a fixed manipulator arm and bar-type handle. This includes tipping ladles to pour metal, dumping used ladle shells, and preparing new ones. Success means consistent, safe, and accurate pouring that meets production standards.Ladle Handling: Manage large ladles of molten metal by moving them via overhead crane and tipping to fill smaller ladles using a manual wheel. Add hot topping to molds with a long-handled scoop. Daily precision and safety are critical for success.Physical Setup: Engage in physically demanding tasks such as rapid, repetitive lifting, pushing/pulling mold carts, and scanning mold tags into the computer. Assist team members as needed to maintain workflow efficiency. Success is demonstrated by maintaining pace and accuracy in a physically challenging environment.Hot Metal Crane Operation: Operate the hot metal crane after certification, managing heat removal as necessary.
