Job summary

Fort Valley State University invites applications for a 12-month Assistant Professor position in Poultry Science/Poultry Production within the CAFST. The appointee will develop an independent research program in poultry production and collaborate with industry partners and Extension agents in Georgia.

The successful candidate will help build teaching and research infrastructure, mentor students, and may have instructional duties as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Poultry Science/Animal Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Expertise in poultry production systems.
• Knowledge of Georgia agriculture and poultry industry priorities.
• Evidence of innovative instructional pedagogy including AI-assisted education and research technologies.
• Ability to create inclusive learning environments.
• Ability to secure external funding.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Design, prepare, and supervise student laboratory and experiential learning activities.
• Develop course objectives, assignments, and assessment methods.
• Develop and sustain a robust research program in poultry science/poultry production.
• Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research.
• Establish collaborations with poultry industry partners and institutions in Georgia.
• Secure extramural funding through grants and partnerships.
• Provide service to professional organizations and the community.
• Collaborate with Cooperative Extension to support poultry producers in Middle Georgia.
• Position may involve instructional duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
