Job summary

Foster Farms in Livingston, CA is seeking a full-time Plant Operations employee to operate and maintain the chilling and unloading systems. This role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and weekend availability, with radio communication in English.

You will support GMP-compliant operations, perform cleaning, and coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure safe, high-quality product delivery.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to communicate effectively on a radio in English.
• Must be able to stand for 8-10 hrs. on a concrete/metal grate floor.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to use high pressure hose or squeegee.
• Must be able to walk up and down stairs and ship's ladders.
• Must be able to change and reattach air hoses and wheel casters.
• Must be able to work weekends.
• General cleaning and / or assisting other departments, maintaining safety, housekeeping, sanitation, and GMP requirements.
• Must be able to use the required tools to do the job.
• Must be able to assist and / or perform moisture checks when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Prior to start-up, turn on all quick disconnects for unloading conveyors and chillers; ensure equipment is on.
• After birds enter rocker chillers, wait 20–25 minutes and then turn on unloaders to transfer birds to main chillers.
• Monitor operation of total chilling system, water level, and product flow; start/stop rocker chiller unloaders during breaks to support other shifts.
• Open chiller drains at end of production to drain and empty rocker chillers of chickens.
• Communicate with packaging management about the location of breaks in the main chillers.
