Job summary

Aviagen in Mississippi is seeking a poultry farm team member to support vaccination crews and animal care for day-old chicks. You will assist with moving, weighing, vaccinations, blood collection, tagging, and maintaining welfare and bio-security standards on farm environments.

This role requires the ability to stand long hours, lift up to 50 pounds, follow written and oral instructions, and work up to 6 days per week including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks.
• Ability to perform work that is repetitive in nature.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to grip, grasp, or twist using hands and wrists.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Bend and stoop throughout the shift.
• Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work with day old chicks.
• Collect birds for moving, weighing, and vaccinations.
• Work with live animals and the associated environment.
• Collect blood samples, band/tag or remove tags from birds.
• Follow Animal Care Standards, Animal Welfare Guidelines, and Bio-Security policies and procedures.
• Work with chemicals such as detergents and disinfectants.
• Perform essential duties in a safe and efficient manner as trained.
• Be around farm-related smells or odors and a loud/noisy environment.
• May work up to 6 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
