Job summary

Poultry Science Association in Dalton, GA is seeking a hands-on Hatchery Shift Supervisor to manage all hatchery operations, ensure chick quality, plan production, and control spending and capital projects.

The role requires leadership in a fast-paced environment, strong technology, math, and communication skills, and oversight of the vaccination program, maintenance, and regulatory compliance to support safe and efficient poultry production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal or Poultry Science or related field preferred.
• 3+ years poultry hatchery leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding animal welfare.
• Excellent technology, computer and math skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Description

Manage all hatchery operations, ensuring chick quality, production and delivery. Plan production, and manage spending and capital improvement projects. Control labor cost, and manage maintenance, supply spend, and vaccination program. All other relevant duties to the job.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Animal, Poultry Science or other related field of study preferred 3+ years poultry hatchery experience within a leadership role preferred. Knowledge of regulatory requirements surrounding animal welfare. Excellent technology, computer and math skills. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Typical office environment within a hatchery utilizing computers, telephones and other office equipment.
• Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
• Subject to dusty and hot environments.
• Exposure to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production lines.
• Frequently stand 8+ hours.
• Regularly exposed to heat conditions of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Work around raw, live animal odors.
