Job summary

Aviagen is seeking a Farm Associate I to support poultry farm operations, focusing on animal care and welfare for the birds in our Aviagen facilities. The role involves daily egg gathering, grading, data recording, and maintaining clean, safe environments across the barns and hatchery areas.

The position requires ability to work up to six days a week including weekends/holidays, physical stamina for lifting up to 50 lbs, and adherence to animal care standards and bio-security.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand oral and written instructions and perform simple tasks.
• Repetitive work.
• Stand for long periods (8 hrs or more).
• Grip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists.
• Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs or more.
• Animal husbandry experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Gather eggs and prevent breakage.
• Grade eggs by category, size and condition.
• Move egg flats to cooler room and record counts.
• Maintain and record egg data.
• Monitor and troubleshoot poultry house conditions (feed lines, drinkers, fans).
• Monitor flock health and mortality.
• Clean and rebuild bird pens as needed.
• Move feed and ensure birds access feed.
• Handle birds for weighing or moving.
• Work with chicks in Hatchery and perform related duties.
• Potential poultry processing tasks as trained.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and bio-security guidelines.
