Job summary

RFCUNY Research Foundation of the City University of New York is seeking a Financial Postsecondary Counselor for Baruch College to support the Fall 2026 program with Saturday sessions from 10am to 2pm, providing one-on-one counseling and small group workshops.

The role focuses on helping students with college access, financial literacy, FAFSA and CSS Profile understanding, and preparing award letters while engaging parents with resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Availability from 10am-2pm each Saturday session.
  • Experience providing student counseling sessions and facilitate parent workshops.
  • Background in college access counseling, specializing in financial literacy and preparedness.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with teenagers and parents.
  • Preferred: Current college counselor/advisor.
  • Familiarity with working with diverse student populations (first generation, immigrant, minority, and low-income).
  • Experience working in schools, college access programs, or community based organizations.
  • Only candidates that submit a cover letter will be considered.

Primary Location: BARUCH COLLEGE Bargaining Unit: No Description of Organization: The Baruch STEP Academy is an academic enrichment program focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and providing college preparation. Managed through the CUNY Research Foundation, we serve middle and high school students throughout the city.

Position: Financial Postsecondary Counselor (In-Person Position)

The Fall 2026 Counseling Program Schedule: 8 Saturdays: October 3 through November 21 from 10am-2pm

Pay Range: $40/hour

These functions include legal assessment and signing of agreements where RFCUNY is named as a fiscal agent; setting up award accounts; preparing sub-awards and assisting PIs in monitoring the work of the recipients of sub-awards; supporting project directors with hiring and managing research project and sponsored program staff; supporting the purchasing and paying for goods and services with grant and program funds; managing financial aspects of projects including accounts receivable, financial reporting, invoicing, budget monitoring, and cost compliance with uniform guidance; ensuring that sponsor financial requirements are met; monitoring compliance with applicable project and financial management rules and laws; supporting the management of independent and external audits and financial reviews; and providing data, information, management expertise, and other supports to CUNY’s research and sponsored programs.
