Job summary

Mount Sinai is seeking a Per Diem Massage Therapist to provide specialized therapeutic and relaxation massage to postpartum patients on the KP8 unit, as well as family members and hospital staff referred by the clinical manager, with advanced pre- and perinatal massage training.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Massage Therapy School Program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NYS Massage Therapy License, NY State Board of Education.
• Proof of Liability Insurance.
• Three years of practice as a massage therapist.
• Advanced training in Hospital Based Massage Therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in orientation and step-protocol training during probationary period.
• Provides bedside massage to patients in the postpartum unit, family members and caregivers through therapeutic massage, relaxation and self-care techniques.
• Develops treatment plans and modifications based on the symptoms presented by patients.
• Obtains medical clearance from MD or RN before performing therapeutic session and communicates with staff and team regarding referrals.
• Documents treatment notes in electronic medical record.
• Provides opportunities to teach about massage therapy techniques and its therapeutic benefits and symptom management through hands-on work and didactic education.
• Assists with regular staff wellness events and chair massage sessions.
• Maintains current knowledge of field through continued education and self-study.
• Performs other related duties.
