Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Systems Engineer to scale and automate our multi-tenant PostgreSQL platform in production. You will design, deploy, and operate highly available clusters and tooling that power services across our global network.

You will collaborate with infrastructure and application teams, implement backup/DR, and build automation with Terraform/Ansible, Python and containers. If you’re passionate about reliability and open-source tooling, join us.

Qualifications

• Experience with building, scaling, and managing large-scale multi-tenant PostgreSQL clusters with HA and DR.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible or Salt).
• Scripting in Python or Bash for automation.
• Experience building and maintaining database tooling for automation and monitoring.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with alerting/monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana.
• Nice-to-have: Go, Ruby, or C/C++ development; PostgreSQL contributions; migrations tooling; PgBouncer/HAProxy; non-relational data stores.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL database clusters in production environments.
• Develop and maintain database tooling for automation, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Implement high availability, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Work with Infra and Applications teams to integrate database tools.
• Implement proactive observability to monitor database health.
• Optimize database performance, indexing, and query tuning.
