Job summary

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc.).
  • Prior experience in modeling viral infections, bacterial infections, and/or immune response dynamics.
  • Experience with parameter estimation techniques and data-driven modeling.

The Postdoctoral Scholar develops and analyzes mathematical models of the immune response to viral and bacterial infections. The Smith lab is a dual dry/wet laboratory and uniquely generates robust data sets to train and validate model predictions.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and analyzes dynamical infection models.
  • Utilizes parameter estimation to investigate experimental and clinical data.
  • Helps design new experiments.
  • Conducts mechanistic and computational modeling of within-host infectious disease dynamics in support of R01.
  • Generates new hypotheses about respiratory infection biology.
  • Presents findings at lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.
