Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s NCCS seeks a postdoctoral research associate to advance application-driven composable distributed storage for HPC, AI, and edge computing. The role collaborates with internal/external researchers to characterize I/O, explore data placement and tiering, and publish findings.

We value independent design, adaptability to diverse R&D projects, and strong communication. Appointment length up to 24 months with potential extension, located at ORNL in Tennessee.

Qualifications

• PhD with HPC/AI/edge systems and storage research.
• Ability to work independently on complex data/storage challenges.
• Experience collaborating with researchers and sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers on data and storage research for HPC, scientific AI, and edge computing.
• I/O and storage performance characterization on multi-tier HPC storage systems.
• Design/evaluate scalable time-sensitive data processing methods for scientific data.
• Evaluate episodic, composable data and storage systems.
• Assess cloud data storage solutions deployed on HPC systems.
• Co-author peer-reviewed publications and technical reports.
• Seek memberships and service opportunities in professional entities.
