Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to advance research in tutoring AI and learning science within the PLUS project and the National Tutoring Observatory. You will work with Prof. Koedinger, Dr. Thomas, and CMU partners to study tutor training, tutor-student matching, and AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities include data analyses (Python/R), designing evaluations, co-authoring papers, and presenting findings at seminars.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Cognitive Science, Learning Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields.
• A track record of publications in Cognitive Science, Learning Science, AI in Education, and/or Educational Data Mining.
• Collaborative problem-solving skills to work with stakeholders toward innovation in assessment.
• Experience with discourse analyses, audio transcription, and multimodal data analysis.
• Data analysis skills with R/Python or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate toward innovation in tutoring with various stakeholders.
• Design and implement evaluations of innovative programs.
• Perform data analyses and modeling using Python/R or similar languages.
• Co-author research papers on student learning modeling and studies.
• Attend meetings and seminars to maintain/update skills.
