Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University in Silicon Valley seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant for Fall 2026 to support the Advanced AI for Industry & Society course. The TA will attend weekly class meetings, manage Canvas submissions, provide feedback on drafts, hold 90 minutes of weekly office hours, and assist with student questions and project work.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree, related experience, and a background check; prior CMU course exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Previous CMU course experience preferred.
• Successful Background Check required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the instructor in providing an effective learning experience.
• Attend all class meetings for one section each week, for the full duration of the semester.
• Manage course activity online in Canvas, including supervising student submissions and ensuring proper structure and formatting of deliverables.
• Review student drafts and final assignments, providing actionable feedback, notes, scores, and corrections.
• Hold office hours for 90 minutes per week to assist students as needed.
• Clarify instructions for assignments during office hours or via Canvas forum.
• Meet with students and teams as requested by the instructor for guidance on assigned work.
• Other duties as assigned.
