The General Hospital Corporation’s Koo Laboratory, within Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, seeks a post‑doctoral Research Fellow to advance infectious disease research. Qualifications

• The ideal candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a MD or a PhD in a relevant biological field.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work both independently and in a team
• Interest in learning and troubleshooting new molecular biology techniques
• Familiarity with animal modeling of disease
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to supervise and train staff effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret research experiments
• Learn any number of molecular genomics techniques including single-cell RNAseq (scRNAseq) and spatial transcriptomics
• Maintain murine models and process tissues for evaluation
• Define breath volatile metabolite profile using advanced analytical chemistry techniques
• Analyze mass spectroscopic and differential mobility spectroscopic data
• Maintain detailed records in laboratory notebooks
• Train new research assistants and postdoctoral fellows
• Troubleshoot problems and instruct others in specialized techniques
• Investigate and develop new methods and technologies for research advancement
• Prepare written data reports and manuscripts for publication
• Present research at local, national, and international meetings
• Oversee lab assistants and students, train them, and assist with experimental design
• Draft material for publications and presentations
