Job Overview

Dr. Mizuno's award winning research has focused on applying pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic (PK / PD) modeling, pharmacometrics, and quantitative pharmacology to develop and implement personalized drug dosing strategies in pediatric patients. This approach to therapeutic optimization is now being coined as “model-informed precision dosing (MIPD)” and is part of a wider context of precision medicine. He is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow - Technical, to join his dynamic research team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis and experiments – Design, execute, and record analysis and experiments; apply standard scientific protocols to research, and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques.
  • Develop and implement human subject research protocols, vertebrate animal research protocols, and design experimental procedures and documentation in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Prepare, clean and analyze data; maintain optimal protocol and accuracy by conducting regular quality and reproducibility checks.
  • Communicate results/findings – Draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, journal articles, and abstracts; present information at department meetings, journal clubs, and seminars; discuss insights with faculty and provide recommendations.
  • Innovate and advance departmental capabilities – Reproduce, evaluate, research, and improve techniques; adapt new methods; modify current analysis/experiments; maintain accurate records; develop, set‑up, and verify new procedures; standardize and establish new published procedures; troubleshoot and correct erroneous results.
  • Financial/Budgeting – Assist in preparing grant applications; prepare, write, and maintain fiscal budget; monitor expenditures and prepare capital expenditure requests; track funding and resolve discrepancies.
  • Staff Leadership – May provide day‑to‑day functional leadership for a team or directly manage a minimal number of support staff; establish team goals; perform employee performance reviews; guide work assignments.
  • Education and Training – May serve as course master and develop new courses at undergraduate and graduate levels; deliver lectures; assist in training new employees; serve as a mentor; identify training needs.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a related discipline, MD, or equivalent degree (PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics or similar quantitative disciplines).
  • Experience in a related discipline.
