Job description

The Survey Research Center in the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in statistics. The Fellow will work on innovative methodological development on complex survey inference and missing data, related to the following topics: (1) accounting for sample design features in Bayesian modeling of massive data, (2) nonresponse bias adjustment through weighting and imputation, and (iii) incorporating uncertainty and data privacy protection concerns in data integration and record linkage settings. The Fellow will be supervised by Yajuan Si, Research Assistant Professor in the Survey Methodology Program, in close collaboration with Drs. Michael Elliott, Roderick Little, Trivellore Raghunathan and Brady West.

The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field and will have a strong background in Bayesian modeling and computation with high dimensional data. Previous experiences in survey research and missing data will be preferred but not required. The Fellow will be expected to participate in methodological research leading to publications in top statistical and applied journals, provided many opportunities of interdisciplinary collaborations. The initial appointment is for one year, with possibility of extension for up to two more years, dependent upon performance and funding.

Interested applicants will submit a letter of interest, CV, personal statement regarding applicant’s research agenda, sample of written work or a recent publication, and contact information for three references who can supply a letter of recommendation.
