Responsibilities

• Designs, synthesizes, purifies, and characterizes novel chemical entities, chelators, linkers, and conjugates for theranostic applications.
• Develops and optimizes bioconjugation strategies for peptides, antibodies, proteins, and small molecules.
• Performs analytical characterization using HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, SEC, UV-Vis and related methods.
• Conducts in vitro evaluation of lead compounds, including stability, binding, pharmacologic, and functional assays.
• Participates in radiolabeling studies and radiopharmaceutical characterization.
• Designs and executes preclinical biodistribution, PK, target engagement, efficacy and safety studies.
• Analyzes data and prepares manuscripts, presentations, regulatory documents and grant reports.

Position Summary

This role is ideal for a scientist with strong training in synthetic chemistry, bioconjugation, and translational drug development who is interested in advancing new molecular imaging and therapeutic agents from bench discovery toward preclinical and clinical application. The laboratory is focused on novel agent development, in vitro and in vivo development, and first in human translation.

Job Description

• Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
• Designs, synthesizes, purifies, and characterizes novel chemical entities, chelators, linkers, and conjugates for theranostic applications.
• Develops and optimizes bioconjugation strategies for peptides, antibodies, proteins, and small molecules.
• Performs analytical characterization using techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, SEC, UV-Vis, and related methods.
• Conducts in vitro evaluation of lead compounds, including stability, binding, pharmacologic, and functional assays.
• Participates in radiolabeling studies and characterization of diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
• Designs and executes preclinical studies to assess biodistribution, pharmacokinetics, target engagement, efficacy, and safety.
• Analyzes and interprets experimental data and prepare manuscripts, presentations, regulatory documentation, and grant reports.
• Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
• Prepares and submits papers on research.
• Assists in the design of research experiments.
• Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
• Conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
• Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
• Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
• Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
• Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
• Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations. All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.

Working Conditions:

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range:

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
