Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you contribute to the department by working on implantable cell-based medical devices, along with a system assembly to create fully functional devices and hormone calibration studies in vitro and in vivo.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supporting the construction of the new 3D-ICE system
  • Responsible for supporting the fabrication of the cell niche
  • Responsible for conducting and supporting related experiments
  • Responsible for working with other postdocs and technical personnel to satisfy project milestones and goals
  • Responsible for system assembly to create fully functional devices and hormone calibration studies in vitro and in vivo
  • Responsible for building collaborations with other research groups within the project to collect responses from larger animal studies
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Hands-on research experience with in vitro and vivo biological experiments required
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
