Position Summary

The Department of Surgery invites applications for a postdoctoral position in an NIH-funded laboratory investigating how immunometabolism regulates lung fibrotic disease. Our laboratory focuses on elucidating the mechanisms underlying lung transplant rejection and interstitial lung disease. A successful candidate will be expected to independently conduct studies using human and mouse tissue specimens and to further develop a human lung chip to study alveolar macrophage and epithelial cell metabolism and differentiation. A successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field, with at least one first-author peer-reviewed paper. Technical experience requirements include proficiency in flow cytometry, immunoblotting, confocal microscopy, Seahorse assays, handling radiolabeled molecules, and single-cell RNA sequencing. A successful candidate will be expected to draft high-impact papers, be highly collaborative, and be comfortable working with rodent models and human tissues.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
  • Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
  • Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
  • Adherence to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations.
  • All data, research records and materials and other intellectual property generated in University laboratories remain the property of the University.
Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range
