Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories' Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (CINT) in Albuquerque seeks a Postdoctoral Appointee with expertise in nanofabrication to develop quantum optical metasurfaces at the intersection of quantum optics and nanophotonics.

You will lead fabrication and process optimization in state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities and collaborate with researchers across Sandia and partner labs, contributing to DOE-funded efforts and publications.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Optical Science, or other related STEM field conferred within five (5) years prior to employment.
• Demonstrated experience with nanofabrication, such as electron beam lithography, RIE/ICP and wet etching, metallization, scanning electron micrography, etc.
• Experience performing original research, demonstrated through a record of invention, original publications in top-tier journals, and conference papers and presentations.
• Experience with photonic and electromagnetic simulation software
• Experience with experimental characterization including linear and nonlinear optics, and optoelectronic device characterization

Responsibilities

• Support and develop novel fabrication techniques of quantum and nonlinear metasurfaces including heterogeneous integration of conventional top-down approaches and novel thin materials.
• Design, simulate, and/or characterize photonic structures using electromagnetic simulation tools.
• Study new physics phenomenon and evaluate new concepts.
• Report research results in top-tier journals and professional conferences.
• Generate new intellectual property through patent filing.
