Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks a Postdoctoral Appointee with nanofabrication expertise to drive the next generation of quantum optical metasurfaces. You will lead fabrication and process optimization in state-of-the-art cleanrooms and collaborate with a long-standing research team at CINT and Sandia.

You will design and test photonic structures, perform simulations, report results, and contribute to publications and patents while working onsite.

Qualifications

• PhD in a related STEM field conferred within five years prior to employment.
• Demonstrated nanofabrication experience including electron beam lithography, RIE/ICP and wet etching, metallization, SEM.
• Proven record of original research with publications and conference papers.
• Experience with photonic/electromagnetic simulation software.
• Experience with linear and nonlinear optics and optoelectronic device characterization.
• Familiarity with low temperature measurements.

Responsibilities

• Support and develop fabrication techniques for quantum metasurfaces, including heterogeneous integration of top-down approaches and novel materials.
• Design, simulate, and characterize photonic structures using electromagnetic tools.
• Study new physics phenomena and evaluate new concepts.
• Publish results in top-tier journals and conferences and contribute to IP via patent filings.
