Job summary

The Post-doctoral Associate position in the Elias Lab at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, is focused on quorum sensing and interference via quorum quenching lactonases. The project will explore effects on bacterial physiology, including antibiotic resistance and biofouling reduction, with protein biochemistry and enzymology central to the work.

The successful candidate will independently conduct experiments, help maintain the lab, and aim to produce high-impact publications. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in molecular biology, microbiology, and protein biochemistry.
  • Ability to independently design, carry lab and field experiments evaluating the effects of quorum quenchers in various setups.
  • A demonstrated ability to independently design and carry out research projects, write effectively and publish research results in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct experiments to advance the Lab research projects.
  • Maintain the Lab and oversee day-to-day workflows.
  • Perform protein purification, enzymatic and biophysical characterization.
  • Evaluate quorum quenchers' effects on microbes and contribute to publications.
