The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the University of Miami invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to support NOAA’s Southeast Fisheries Science Center. Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in physical or biological oceanography, marine ecology, marine biology, population dynamics, fisheries, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with statistical analyses and expertise in oceanography, marine ecosystem ecology and population dynamics.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as R, Perl, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with large and diverse data sets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently on interdisciplinary analyses.
  • Experience with git/GitHub version control or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and statistically analyze complex data sets.
  • Test and develop hypotheses related to ecosystem processes.
  • Conduct simulations or modeling to evaluate environmental change impacts on fisheries.
  • Build or update tools to aid fishery managers in decision making.
  • Implement organized, transparent workflows using Github version control.
  • Present findings at scientific meetings and publish results in journals.
