The Pain Research Program in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the Heersink School of Medicine announces an open position for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Dr. Jianguo Gu’s Pain Research Laboratory.
We seek an ambitious, motivated candidate interested in research on the cellular and molecular aspects of sensory physiology, neuroscience, and pain. We specifically focus on ion channels and their functions in sensory transduction, conduction, and transmission under both physiological and pathological conditions (see CELL 2014, 157:664-75, cited in 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine; NEURON, 2019, 104:960-971; NEURON, 2024, 112:1286-1301, NATURE COMMUN. 2024, 15:2911). We employ multi-disciplinary approaches, including electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, mouse genetics, animal behavioral assessment, and artificial intelligence to conduct our research.
Qualified candidates with a PhD in a biomedical field and experience in neuroscience and/or electrophysiology research will receive top priority.
The postdoc candidate will receive a competitive salary plus benefits per University of Alabama at Birmingham policy and NIH guidelines.
