Job summary

Howard University in Washington DC is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate the genetic underpinnings of health disparities and develop strategies to address them. The role involves genomic sequencing and computational modeling, with collaboration across genomics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and social sciences.

You will work on large genomic datasets, contribute to publications, and participate in leadership during meetings and conferences. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field such as genomics, genetics, molecular biology, ecology, bioinformatics, public health, microbiology, biophysics, quantum biology, or a related discipline.
• Computational experience with biomolecular modeling software (Chimera, PyMOL) and programming experience in Python, Fortran, and/or C.

Responsibilities

• Designing studies and conducting genomic sequencing (including WGS, Sanger sequencing, SNP genotyping).
• Analyzing data, interpreting findings, and publishing results; collaborate to address health disparities in research.
• Work with multidisciplinary approaches across genomics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, and social sciences.
• Work with large-scale genomic datasets (GWAS, NGS, EHR) to identify variants/biomarkers linked to health disparities.
• Additional related duties as needed.
• Typical duration 1–3 years with potential renewal.
• Participate in leadership during lab meetings, seminars, and conferences; coordinate on-site and virtual meetings.
