Job summary

Howard University seeks a Biomedical Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Fellow specializing in neuroscience and genomic regulation to advance health equity through cutting-edge research. You will design independent and collaborative projects focused on neuroprotection, neuroinflammation, and genomics, with hands-on experience in rodent stroke models and advanced imaging.

You will mentor students, contribute to manuscripts and grants, and ensure compliance with biosafety and ethics.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral or equivalent research experience.
  • Strong publication record in high-impact journals.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experimental studies in molecular and cellular neuroscience.
  • Perform rodent stroke surgeries and tissue collection.
  • Conduct IHC, confocal imaging, and image analysis.
  • Apply DNA/RNA/protein assays to characterize neuronal functions.
  • Mentor students and trainees in lab methods and ethics.
  • Prepare manuscripts, progress reports, and grant proposals.
