Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow in the Zhang lab within the School of Pharmacy. The successful candidate will design, synthesize, and characterize small molecules for preclinical drug discovery across multiple disease areas.

We seek a motivated synthetic organic chemist, medicinal chemist, or computational chemist with experience in SAR, NMR, and computational modeling, who can work independently and contribute to interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• PhD degree in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, or related areas.
• Experience in designing synthetic routes for novel organic compounds and SAR analysis.
• Ability to apply NMR, IR, HPLC, and MS methods to organic chemistry inquiries.
• Experience in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and structure-based molecular design.
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently.
• Commitment to fostering an environment of respect and civility among a diverse population.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and biologically characterize novel chemical entities as drug candidates.
