Job summary

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to work in Dr. Yan Zhang's laboratory in the School of Pharmacy.

The successful candidate will contribute to design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of small molecule drug candidates across diverse disease targets. Ideal candidates hold a PhD in synthetic organic, medicinal, or computational chemistry and have strong publication records along with experience in SAR

Qualifications

• PhD required in synthetic organic, medicinal, computational chemistry, or related discipline.
• Experience in designing synthetic routes and SAR analysis.
• Ability to apply NMR, IR, HPLC, and MS to answer chemistry questions.
• Experience in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, and structure-based design.
• Excellent English communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and biologically characterize novel chemical entities as drug candidates.
• Contribute to pre-clinical development and interdisciplinary research within the lab.
