Job description

Postdoctoral Fellow

Join the HJF Team!

HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow responsible for initiating and carrying out research projects in collaboration with a research team. Pursuits research along a focused line of inquiry and has a manuscript in development. This position will be in support of Center for Prostate Disease Research (CPDR) within the Murtha Cancer Center Research Program (MCCRP) located at the Rockledge Offices in Bethesda, Maryland. A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available within the laboratories of Dr. Ayesha Shafi at CPDR. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the Postdoctoral Fellow position. This position will provide an excellent opportunity for continued scientific development and contributions at the interface between research and administration in a dynamic laboratory environment and larger interdisciplinary setting. The research projects, which aim to elucidate the impact of circadian disruption, immunological alterations, and the rewiring of metabolic components in response to environmental exposures in patients by utilizing biospecimens, are as follows: Profile hormonal and metabolic indicators of diurnal cycle or sleep disruption and elucidate the molecular mechanism(s) of circadian dysfunction impacting prostate cancer. Define the signatures of exposure to environmental carcinogens and xenobiotic compounds that alter the genomic, proteomic, and metabolic landscape of prostate cancer patients. Characterize the immunologic status (chemokines and cytokines in the serum) and the lymphocyte repertoire in the development of prostate cancer and in response to environmental exposures.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine.
