Job summary

Harvard University’s Black Hole Initiative (BHI) invites applications for Postdoctoral Research Fellows. These grant-funded, three-year positions are located at Harvard and affiliated with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, MA.

Successful candidates will work on topics ranging from fundamental black hole physics to gravitational waves, with access to computing resources and collaboration with leading researchers. The ideal start date is September 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Ph.D. is required to begin a Postdoctoral Fellowship; verification for recent Ph.D. graduates may be requested.

Responsibilities

• Conduct postdoctoral research in the Black Hole Initiative (BHI) at Harvard University, affiliated with SAO.
• Engage in topics including fundamental physics of black holes, spacetime stability, GR MHD simulations, gravitational waves, and horizons.
• Collaborate across disciplines and utilize computing facilities to advance BHI research objectives.
