The CHAOS research group at the University of Oklahoma Norman Campus, School of Meteorology, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to develop extreme precipitation forecast models using machine learning. The fellow will aggregate input datasets, train AI models, and evaluate performance for both historical and real-time predictions.

• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related disciplines within the last 3 years.
• Experience with programming languages for AI/ML algorithm development and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop extreme precipitation forecast models using machine learning.
• Aggregate input datasets and train AI models.
• Evaluate historical and real-time prediction performance for operational partners.
• Collaborate within the National Weather Center and with NOAA partners.
