Position Summary
Morehouse School of Medicine’s Micro/Biochem/Immun ( MBI ) department is seeking a energetic, motivated MD, DVM , or Ph.D. scientist to join the team. The Postdoctoral fellow will work on an American Cancer Society funded project studying the social and molecular determinants of liver cancer disparities. Specifically, the Postdoctoral Fellow will assess the incidence and prevalence of cancer risks for HCC patients at county levels to determine the disparities based on race/ethnicity and social determinants of health.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: PhD or MD in biomedical science from an accredited college or university Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.

Experience: Advanced data analysis experience
Description of Job Duty
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Postdoctoral fellow will conduct a data warehouse (DW) for cancer and HCC by utilizing publicly available data sources and data extracted from the electronic health record (EHRs) at MSM and Establish the clinical significance of HCC -related genes. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to conduct active lab research on a semi-independent basis: design and evaluate experiments; conduct experiments, data collection, and analysis, present research progress at national and international and weekly lab meetings, develop new ideas that promote current research; prepare and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of the principal investigator (PI); apply for postdoctoral fellowships under the direction of Scientist (PI); attend and give seminars; bring new expertise to the research program. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform other duties assigned by the PI, i.e., train and oversee graduate students and participate in other laboratory activities. KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS , & ABILITIES : Expertise in molecular biology, Bioinformatics, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), Drug molecular modeling, Immunological techniques, IHC , and data analysis. Excellent organizational skills, Knowledge of computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills. Ability to collect and analyze data. Ability to work independently and as a team. Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to set priorities and excellent time management skills. Ability to work productively with diverse populations; show respect and sensitivity for cultural differences. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Postdoctoral fellow is expected to perform other duties assigned by the PI, i.e., train and oversee graduate students and participate in other laboratory activities.
