Job Information

Postdoctoral Associate – Antimicrobial Drug Development

Job Summary

Postdoctoral associate positions are available for scientists who are interested in the study of antimicrobial drug development and immunological effects on gene/protein functions. The successful candidate will participate in NIH‑funded research projects aimed at investigating host‑pathogen interactions and characterizing genes encoding airway host defense proteins, as well as elucidating the mechanisms by which these host defense proteins modulate respiratory innate immunity and prevent pulmonary diseases. The research will use both in vitro (air‑liquid interface cultures, organoids, and organ‑on‑a‑chip) and in vivo (transgenic and knockout mice) model systems to examine biochemical and immunological changes. Regulatory mechanisms of signaling events and transcriptional activations will also be investigated. The lab focuses on investigating the mechanisms of pulmonary diseases, particularly regarding the roles of immune and epithelial cells during respiratory infections and environmental exposure, the application of molecular and cellular tools, and the use of peptide drugs as therapeutics.

Responsibilities
  • Perform biochemical, cellular, and molecular experiments to produce data for publication in support of the research program.
  • Conduct computational and bioinformatic studies.
  • Maintain an accurate and well‑organized record of laboratory activities.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in an appropriate specialization with demonstrated research experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge in pulmonary pathology, innate immunity, and carcinogenesis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with disease models and experience in PD/PK studies are desirable.
Advertised Salary
  • NIH postdoctoral fellowship award pay scale based on qualification and experience.
Work Schedule
  • Begin time: 8:30 AM
  • End time: 5:30 PM
Other Information
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
