Job summary

Mount Sinai in New York is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Microbiology to study cell biology of viral pathogenesis, focusing on replication dynamics of henipaviruses and related paramyxoviruses.

The successful candidate will apply biochemical and biophysical analyses, use reverse genetics to generate mutants, and help train lab members, with opportunities to develop AI-driven multi-omic approaches and present results at national/international meetings.

Qualifications

• PhD in an immediately relevant field.
• At least TWO first or co-first author publications from graduate work.

Responsibilities

• Apply biochemical and biophysical analysis to paramyxovirus proteins and complexes critical for the life cycle of the virus with emphasis on henipavirus and related viruses.
• Use reverse genetics to generate paramyxoviruses with relevant mutations for structure-function analysis of replication and pathogenesis.
• Perform and teach protein synthesis/production techniques to lab members.
• Partake in rotating lab responsibilities contributing to a well-functioning lab.
• Join in all relevant intellectual activities of the lab and department.
• Proactively apply for eligible fellowships.
• Present work at national and/or international conferences; write and publish results promptly.
