Job summary

Qualifications

• PhD completed within the last 0–5 years in physics, chemistry, materials science, or equivalent.
• Experience developing experimental instrumentation.
• Expertise with Class 4 laser systems and designing laser optical systems.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to an interdisciplinary team.
• Interest in advancing time-resolved X-ray measurements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and benchmark time-resolved instrumentation for solution-phase dynamics.
• Develop laser optical systems and excitation strategies for droplet delivery.
• Demonstrate techniques at APS Sector 25 with time-resolved X-ray measurements.
• Integrate optical transient-absorption with X-ray studies as appropriate.
• Analyze results with an interdisciplinary team and publish findings.
• Communicate outcomes in journal articles, talks, and reports.
